Delta Sleep-Inducing (DSIP) is a naturally occurring compound, first isolated from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits in 1977.  Since its discovery, it has been investigated in preclinical research for its potential role in neuroendocrine signaling and the regulation of biological processes associated with the sleep–wake cycle.

Preclinical studies have explored DSIP’s interactions with the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, neurotransmitter systems, and other pathways involved in neuroendocrine function and physiological regulation.  Additional research has examined its biological activity across various experimental models to further characterize its mechanisms of action.
